{Real Wedding} Nicole + Andrew, Vancouver, Canada

I am so excited to share another friend's beautiful wedding today, photographed by Mark Budworth, of Softlight Photography.

I met Nicole nearly a decade ago, when we were studying in Strasbourg, France.  I am from the US and she is from Canada.  As is usually the case when so many years pass, living in different countries, we have managed to stay in touch through the glory that is social networking and email!  She saw my wedding details and all unfold, as did I follow her path, from meeting her beau to seeing her stunning wedding, all via the internet!

I was overjoyed when I inquired to Nicole about sharing her beautiful wedding images with me, and she graciously agreed! Not only did she share her gorgeous pics, she also included some touching notes on her and Andrew's courtship, how he proposed, and their special day.

"Andrew and I met while watching a Vancouver Canucks hockey game at a pub in downtown Vancouver. We were sitting at tables next to each other with our own group of friends until Andrew happened to recognize one of the girls at my table and our tables joined. We found ourselves sitting across from each other and, over a pint of beer (or more in Andrew's case), we talked about the universities we each attended, our travels in Asia and sports - in particular tennis. We knew there was a 'spark' and we went on our first date - tennis & dinner - a week later.

Andrew and I both share a love for travel and adventure. During our travels to Italy, Andrew waited patiently for the first six days of our trip before he popped the question, waiting for the right moment while the ring was stored safely in a rolled up sock in his suitcase. Andrew proposed unde the star-lit sky of Tuscany among olive groves and rose bushes at the Tuscan villa where we were staying. I had taken an Italian language course before leaving on the trip and I quickly added "fidanzato" (fiance) to my vocabulary and spent the balance of our trip finding every opportunity to use my new word.

Engaged on September 10, 2009 in Tuscany, our wedding day was coincidentally exactly 10 months later in Vancouver on July 10th in 2010! We will be celebrating our first anniversary this year with a trip back to Europe in September where we'll be visiting France and Spain."

I love Nicole and Andrew's story, from the Canucks game bringing them together, to cherishing the same interests, and an engagement under the Tuscan moon.  It's a beautiful story of Game. Set. Match. followed by L.O.V.E!

Introducing the gorgeous wedding of Nicole and Andrew, photographed by Mark Budworth.

Their wedding ceremony took place in the beautiful backyard garden at the home of their friends. The cocktail reception took place at a nearby performing arts centre.

I love the summery details of the wedding, including the ceremony chairs with the little bit of added color-definitely a unique way to incorporate some color!

A few more notes from Nicole, and on the details put into planning their wedding:

"I like bright, fun colours. Turquoise is one of my favourite colours and I decided to complement it with fuscia/pink - great for a sunny, summer wedding. I incorporated the colours into the flowers, bridesmaids dresses, cake/cupcakes and lanterns at the reception. I was really happy with how it all came together!

We wanted to personalize our wedding and make it our own. A few things we did include: we asked our musically inclined friends to perform the live music, we enlarged and displayed our own photography from Italy around the reception venue and we served red and white wine from a region in Italy that we visited."

I am thrilled to share Nicole and Andrew's wedding, even more so that on Sunday, July 10, 2011, they will celebrate their 1st Wedding Anniversary!

Many thanks to Nicole for sharing your wedding, and many congrats to you and Andrew on your 1 year anniversary!
