{Real Weddings} Lindsey & Zach's Beautiful Nashville, Tennessee Wedding

Happy Friday! Finally Friday has arrived, and that means we are hours away from departing for Puerto Vallarta!  Yay!! Bring on the wedding weekend! 

I have to wonder, though, why does it pour down with stress just before leaving for a little vacay?  It makes the vacay that much more meaningful, but I could go without the real job dramas! 

Anywho, we have a fun wedding to share with you today!  This wedding was submitted today from Laurie Carpenter Photography.  There are unique elements in this wedding that really stand out, from an extraordinary venue to a cake unlike I've ever seen!  

I reached out to the lovely bride, Lindsey, to shed some pretty light onto the unique elements of her wedding, which I will share throughout the post.

What inspired your color palette? 

From the beginning, I knew I wanted to pick colors that I would be happy looking at for the rest of my life, since wedding photos are always around! My favorite "colors" are black and white; they're just timeless. But I wanted to add a little bit of color to accent the summer yet modern feeling. I decided that the clover green would be perfect; plus it looked great on all my bridesmaids!

Your choice of venue is beautiful! How did you pick the War Memorial Auditorium?

We knew we didn't want a hotel wedding, and we had a challenge on our hands because of the size of our wedding. So we set out to find a place that was large enough to hold our group but also a place that we could really show off who we were. It ended up being the perfect venue for our day!

Were there any elements that you added that had a personal meaning to you and your groom?

You'll notice that the floor has a very distinctive gobo light design. I'm very into keltic knots; all of my jewelry basically centers around this sort of design. I loved how they incorporated that part of me into it! The front table also held two guitars that we asked our guests to sign. I'm a songwriter, and Zach loves music, so we asked guests sign our guitars which are now hanging in our house! Also, we gave the guests cd's of our favorite songs; they didn't necessarily have anything to do with love, but we just songs that we loved and/or are close to us personally. Zach had his super hero cake, which was really something that showed off his personality. And I wore my maid of honor's sorority pin on the inside of my dress, and my mom's pledge pin (same sorority) on my flowers.

I see there is a little bit of "comic book" inclusion. What is the story behind choosing this to be apart of your wedding?

Zach (my husband, obviously! :)) is a huge comic book fan. He was really set on having an amazing superhero cake, and Jay Qualls of Maple Cakes totally delivered! He not only did superhero's, but really incorporated other comics/cartoons that my husband loved as a kid...and still loves. :) I knew it was important to Zach to have this be a huge part of the wedding, and I'm glad it was; everyone LOVED it and just couldn't get enough!

The best thing I can say to anyone planning a wedding is GET A WEDDING PLANNER. It's the only piece of advice I give and I mean it! We hired Angela Proffitt of Elegant Weddings by Angela, and she was fantastic! Everything that she suggested was amazing, and anything we didn't listen to her about, we now wish we had. She was the best money we spent, and if we could do it all over again we'd pay her more! I was totally one of those brides who thought I didn't need any help, and I was so wrong!
