{Real Weddings} Megan & William's Splendid Spanish Hills Country Club Wedding

We have a gorgeous wedding to share with you today, submitted via Two Bright Lights by William Innes Photography.  We've had the pleasure of sharing William's work in the past, and are excited to bring you yet another stunning wedding he has photographed.  It's easy to see why brides seek out his talents, he captures every moment and detail flawlessly.

When I received Megan & William's wedding in my inbox, I had to reach out to the bride to get the couple's love story and find out the details of what went into planning this special day.  Also, there is a unique addition to their wedding, which you might notice, and I was curious to know what the significance was to the couple.

Can you figure out what has me intrigued?  Stay tuned, but first, here's Megan's story on how she and William came to know each other, and his super sweet proposal!

The Meeting
William and I met in the 7th grade and became best friends. All throughout junior high and high school we liked each other and had a crush on each other but somehow always stayed just friends because we dated other people. We were always there for each other and gave each other advice on anything. We then both got accepved into the University of Southern California where we still remained best friends. Senior year William's father passed away. I was there for William when he needed someone to turn to and this unfortunate circumstance brought us together and made our relationship even stronger than before. We started dating shortly after and became inseparable for four and a half years.

The Proposal
William had told me that he had a conference to attend in Santa Barbara and he asked if I would go with him. I thought this was a little strange as he has never had to go away for anything work related. I was suspecting that he was going to ask me sometime soon and was hoping he might pop the question in Santa Barbara. While we were in Santa Barbara it was raining and he told me the conference was cancelled due to the weather. This made me really excited because I thought this was all in the plan. However, Saturday passed and there was no proposal so needless to say I was disappointed but not trying to show it!

The next morning we woke up early and he was very anxious and excited. He told me I couldn't sleep in and that he was taking me somewhere but he wouldn't tell me where he was taking me. We went up through the mountains and ended up in Solvang. To my surprise there was a horse drawn carriage waiting for us and I became the happiest girl in the world. I had told William years past that my dream proposal would be in a horse drawn carriage and he remembered! Although it was still raining it was covered and took us around to wineries in the Santa Ynez valley.

The rain stopped right before William proposed in front of the first winery in a beautiful garden and it was magical! He had told me that he had planned to propose on Saturday but since it was raining he postponed it to Sunday. Even though it rained on Sunday, it luckily didn't affect his plans too much. Later we went home and our families had a nice dinner for us and we all celebrated our engagement. It was an absolutely perfect day!

We're swooning over that beautifully romantic proposal!  A horse drawn carriage, a vineyard, rain or shine, that swept us off our feet!  And now I bring to you Megan & William's splendid wedding at Spanish Hills Country Club, captured by William Innes Photography:

Vision for the day
We knew that we wanted our wedding to be very classy and elegant and this is the overall theme we tried to convey throughout it. . The florist suggested since I like bling doing crystals throughout the centerpieces and having crystal candelabras for the centerpieces. I loved this idea and tried to incorporate the crystals wherever I could. This along with candles being lit throughout the whole room, fireplaces being lit with candles, flowers and uplighting in amber made the room very romantic and elegant just as we wanted.

The color palette
My favorite color is pink so I knew I wanted light pink flowers and I wanted very summery and light colors as well. We decided on everything being ivory, light pink and champagne and thought these colors together were the perfection combination of elegance and class. Since it was a summer wedding I also thought that these colors were perfect for the season.

The details
I am very girly and I have always liked anything shiny or sparkling and so this was portrayed throughout the wedding. There were crystals in the centerpieces and on the tables, along with crystal candelabras for the centerpieces. The napkin rings were crystals and I was covered in rhinestones from my shoes up to my headpiece. My dress had a rhinestone sash along the waist and my bouquet was made out of crystal brooches. I decided to do this instead of traditional flowers because not only did I think it was beautiful, but I will have it forever and if one day I have a daughter I plan to pass it down to her.

The venue
After going to look at many venues we decided on Spanish Hills Country Club in Camarillo, CA It had a gorgeous view where the ceremony took place and the chandeliers in the ballroom took our breath away. William and his dad had played in many of our high school golf tournaments there together so it was sentimental to have our wedding there as well. Spanish Hills was the only venue that had the ceremony and reception sight that we both loved. The other places we looked at either had a great ceremony area or reception area but not both. The weather in Camarillo was extremely nice too being by the beach so we knew in the middle of summer it wouldn't get too hot.

The planning process
We were engaged for 13 months and I will say that it took that long to plan the wedding. I thought at first that being engaged for a year seemed so long but I quickly realized how fast the time went and that I needed the year to plan my dream wedding! My mom was so amazing throughout the whole planning process. The two of us worked as a team and got so much done. Luckily, we have the same taste and pretty much agree on everything so it was a very easy process! Spanish Hills had a coordinator but we also hired two coordinators that worked as a team and they were wonderful! I don't know what I would have done without them! They made the whole process very easy and not stressful at all. They were in contact with all my vendors and made the two weeks before the wedding stress free and made my mom and me feel very confident that everything was taken care of. The day of the wedding went so smoothly as they followed the timeline perfectly!

The search for the dress
Ever since I had seen Jessica Simpsons wedding dress she wore when she married Nick Lachey I knew I wanted her style of dress. I wanted it to be a sweetheart neckline and strapless with a long train and lace. I was with my mom shopping one day but not looking for a wedding dress and we passed by a bridal store and decided to go in and just look. I tried on a dress that I loved but I didn't want to buy the first dress I tried on because I wanted the experience of looking around. After going to several more stores I still loved the first dress and couldn't get it off my mind. I then went to Pebbles Bridal and after trying on about 10 dresses there I tried on a dress that I knew was the one! It was everything I had originally wanted just like Jessica Simpsons dress. I didn't even think about the first dress after trying on this one. I didn't like the back however, but Pebbles remade the back to make it exactly how I wanted. I also knew I wanted bling and rhinestones somewhere in it so they made me a beautiful sash for the waist that was the perfect touch to make the dress just perfect for me!

The lovely bridesmaids and their dresses
I had four bridesmaids in my wedding. My maid of honor was my best friend and roommate from college. Two other bridesmaids were my cheerleading friends and best friends from high school and my other bridesmaid was my friend from work. We are both elementary school teachers. They dresses were chiffon and long and flowing and were from Davids Bridal. It was the only store that had the champagne color I wanted and I just happened to love the dresses too!

Favorite moments from the day
To put a little fun and excitement into the ceremony we had the USC marching band come and play for everyone. This was very special since we are both alumni and had many family and friends there that were too. To go with the USC theme, I had a grooms cake made that was a USC football helmet. Having the band there was definitely one of the highlights of the night!

Honeymoon travels
My husband and I had always wanted to go to Europe and we thought what better time to go than for our honeymoon. We went to Paris, all along the south of France and Venice Italy. It was very romantic and an experience we both will never forget!

Vendor raves
Our photographer, William Innes was absolutely wonderful. He was so nice and efficient and took the most beautiful pictures.
My florist, Rhonda Burton and my coordinator Krista Cremidan from Nouveau Events. The florist was so creative and made the most beautiful centerpieces and the coordinator was easy to work with and so organized!

Advice for brides when it comes to wedding planning
Advice I would give to other brides is to just enjoy your engagement and the wedding process because it goes so fast and you will never get that time back. As hard as it may be to not get stressed out, try not to. Relax and enjoy the process with your family and friends. Also, on your wedding day try to take in as much as you can and enjoy every minute of it because it goes way too fast!

Such a beautiful, almost fairytale like wedding!  From the horse drawn carriage proposal, to the sparkling crystals & pink blooms, it's perfect!  More importantly is the depth of love and care that Megan & William have for one another.

I LOVE Megan's dress, it is fabulous!  Having that custom made sash adds such a special touch.  And what of the crystal brooch bouquet?  A very special touch, and will pass down beautifully for many many years to come.

What has us intrigued, you ask?  If you noticed the USC Trojan Marching Band members, that would be it!  I love it that the couple had them at their wedding reception!  How random and awesome!  Looks like all enjoyed themselves, and what a great memory to savor.

Many thanks to Megan for sharing with us your beautiful story and the details that went into your gorgeous wedding!  I'm sure many brides out there appreciate your advice, and your stance on recruiting wedding coordinators to help make the planning process and the day of as stress free as possible.

Many thanks as well to William Innes Photography for submitting yet another beautiful wedding!
