{Real Couples} Meagan & John's Laguna Beach Engagement Session

I love hearing how couples begin, and then how they come to the next level, which is marriage.  Some stories have a rocky beginning, others are as easy as they get.  Some couples endure major tests, others just coast along without much drama or any life altering events.  When I was in my 20s, dating different fellas, I always had to fight to maintain the relationship, and I thought this was how it would be once I met "the one", and then on into that marriage.  When I finally met "the one", it was easy as pie, with a scoop of ice cream on the side! I wasn't prepared for that, nor was I ready for it, but everything just happened, and it was, and still is, bliss.  We each went through huge career peaks and valleys, family traumas, but they never affected us as a single entity.  When we got through those big things and were unscathed as a couple, that was when I knew we were building our foundation for our marriage and life together.

I bring this topic of relationships up, hard or easy, as today's featured couple, captured by Andy Bang Photographers, is proof that at times there is work, much work, that goes into maintaining a relationship that is destined for the altar, and then for a life long marriage.  The bride-to-be, Meagan, explains a little bit about her & John's path, as they get ready to say "I do" later this summer:
My name is Meagan and my fiance's name is John. We got engaged on June 9th of last year (my birthday) in Catalina Island, he proposed on a jet ski in the middle of the ocean (it was where we had our first date 3 years ago). We are both from Michigan, I have lived out in Orange County for almost 5 years. John and I met through work, we were both in North Carolina for a conference and that is how we met. We dated long distance for almost 2 years, I was in CA and he was in MI and then he finally moved out to California about 15 months ago. We are now planning our wedding back in Michigan, it will be on August 10th, 2013.

Long distance relationships are hard work for many, and these two love birds endured that.  What's better is that John moved across the country to be with Meagan.  By the way, proposing on a jet ski in the middle of the ocean is terribly romantic, you cannot get more private than that!

So, now that Meagan & John are destined for the aisle, let's celebrate with them, toast our champagne flutes to them, and enjoy their gorgeous California sunshine filled engagement session, beautifully captured by Andy Bang Photographers:
