Monika shared with us how this photo session came to be:Like with most weddings, the day almost seems to be a blur as everything goes into overdrive and time flies quicker than anyone would expect. Knowing this, the bride and groom decided rather than rush the pictures in-between and during their special events of the day, they would comeback in front of the camera, just the two of them, as a married couple one week later.
On a Friday evening when commuters were herding their way onto Metra trains and weekend tourists were arriving in the city, Kelly and Scott met me in their wedding attire for a fun photo shoot as a married couple! Scott had purchased his suit and sported the ensemble once more, sans his lapel boutonniere. Kelly on the other hand wore her "after-party" dress which looked stunning on her, but very fun at the same time. Her hair this time was down with soft curls and pinned back with the same hair pin she wore with her wedding day up-do.
The couple looked at places to photograph that embraced the true nature of the hustle and bustle of the city. More importantly, they wanted to capture the city at night. As the sun dipped lower and lower, the light on the bridge was stunning. As night fell, the city was as busy as ever. The Miracle Mile was a zoo, which is not uncommon on a Friday night as suburbanites and tourists swarm the street for great food and shopping! The crowd did not distract the couple, in fact long exposures captured the blurred feet of pedestrians in the background as the two shared an intimate kiss.
I loved working with Kelly and Scott. They were carefree and up for anything! Even a kiss in the middle of the Miracle Mile!
Please enjoy Kelly & Scott's Newlywed Chicago Photo Session, beautifully captured by Monika Thorpe:
What a great session! I like how Chicago is very much present, like the Chicago Sun Times building captured in a few shots, taking pics on the Miracle Mile, as Monika pointed out. A great memory for these two for sure! And what a gorgeous pair they make. I like Kelly's choice of dress, having her hair hang long with that clip, and her blue shoes she wore at their wedding. Very simple yet stylish.
