Real Weddings: Brittany & PJ's Cathedral Oaks Wedding

Happy September, everyone! Can you believe it? We've made it through another summer and are ready to embrace the goodness that is just around the corner. To kick off the month right, I have the pleasure to share with you this lovely wedding that was sent over to us from Texas Wedding Photographer Shelly Taylor.  The unique part about this wedding is that it really was a family affair, and is a must see. Wait till you see the cake...amazing!

We also have the pleasure of hearing from the bride, Brittany, as she shared with us the details of her love story with PJ and how her dream day came together.

Please enjoy Brittany & PJ's details, and their beautiful wedding that was captured by Shelly Taylor Photography:

Our Love Story

PJ and I first met in the summer of 2008 in Stephenville, Texas. I was taking summer classes at Tarleton State University and PJ had recently transferred there. Even though we knew each other then, the timing wasn't right for our love story to begin. Six years passed and the first chapter finally began. PJ invited me to dinner, and old friends quickly became so much more...

We spent the beginning of the Christmas season in New York City. After a carriage ride and walk through Central Park, PJ led me to a rocky ledge overlooking the snow covered park. We smiled for a picture and when I turned around PJ was on one knee asking me for my hand in marriage.

Our Vision

PJ and I dreamed of our wedding day being a day filled with fun, laughter, and joy! We wanted to create precious memories that would last a lifetime not only for us but also for our wonderful & loving family and friends. We envisioned soft colors, elegance and beautiful scenery. Our dreams came true when we met under the beautiful oak trees to say "I do" in front of the people we love the most.

The Dress

After trying on a few dresses at an extremely well known and busy salon in NYC, I was feeling a little overwhelmed and nervous about finding my dream dress. A friend of mine suggested a bridal boutique in Austin that would be more welcoming and patient (it is near impossible to make a decision in only one hour). Alongside my mom and sister I found my wedding dress at a boutique in Austin, Belle Saison Bridal. Kat, you were wonderful!!

The Bridal Party

My Matron of Honor was my best friend and sister Lacy! My beautiful 8 bridesmaids being my most precious friends! Sweet Ali, my husband's cousin, was our perfect flower girl!

The Details

My mom, Brenda, truly took my bridal vision and made it a reality for her little girl. I described my fantasy day to my mom one afternoon over coffee. Over the next six months she made my dream become a reality. Mom worked endless hours to create the most beautiful wedding I have ever seen. My mother was a precious & priceless ingredient to our wedding day. One blessing that comes along with marrying the most amazing man, is marrying into an amazing family. My mother-in-law, Lana, made our dream wedding cake a reality. Lana spent every day for six months working patiently on each individual sugar flower that you see on our wedding cake. She also created a grooms cake that described my husband perfectly.

The Hooneymoon

Pj & I left at 6:00 am June 29th (the morning after our wedding) and headed to Punta Cana! We stayed at an absolutely incredible resort "Breathless" and loved every second!

The Vendors

Karla McNeill was irreplaceable during our wedding planning process. Karla was a peace of mind for both my mom and me. Shelly Taylor, phenomenal photographer that captured the priceless moments on the best day of our lives! Ginny Swalley and I spent many hours together picking out beautiful flowers for the ceremony and reception. Needless to say, Ginny is incredible! During our reception an Austin based band, The Grooves, provided entertainment to party the night away! Delicious food was catered by "Let us do the Cooking." The bartenders, Longhorn Bartenders, were wonderful and worked quickly to ensure everyone had a delicious beverage. The photo booth fun was provided by Le Photo Booth out of Austin. Capital Wedding Video out of Austin did a perfect job capturing precious memories of our wedding and creating a beautiful and special video. My precious friend, Amanda Robinson, was the artist behind the hair and makeup for the day! As my sweet husband said "Babe, you look beautiful, you took my breath away..."

Gorgeous details all throughout! I love Brittany's gown, it is a stunner. And what did you think of the cake? Such a gorgeous display of talent. I love the venue, it was the perfect spot for these two love birds. I cannot get enough of outdoor chandeliers-LOVE seeing that.

Our sincere thanks to Shelly Taylor Photography for submitting Brittany & PJ's wedding to us, and to Brittany for sharing some of her love story and wedding details with us!
