Real Weddings: Heather & Patrick's DIY Country Wedding

Happy Wedding Wednesday! We have a lovely summertime country wedding to share with you, submitted by Calgary Wedding Photographer Debbie Wong. Heather and Patrick's wedding takes place at a beautiful countryside spot, is full of beautiful diy touches, and a cheerful palette of navy blue and yellow.

Debbie shared a bit about the happy couple's wedding with us:
Heather and Patrick got married on August 2, 2014 in the country side of DeWinton, Alberta, Canada. Both their ceremony and reception was held at the DeWinton community hall.

The overall theme was country with a DIY touch. Heather worked with her friend designer, Emily, to create the centerpieces with bottles, twine, burlap and various twigs/flowers. Wood was a major item used for the centerpieces, the ring "pillow", the ceremony and reception signing table and the hand painted signs. The signs came from a farm that Heather and Emily visited, and sifted through piles of barn boards to find the right ones.

The decor colors were predominately navy and yellow, some of Heather's favorite colors and worn during their engagement photo session. Sunflowers were used for the bouquets and as for Heather's "Something Old" item, she included her Grandma's pin onto her bouquet.

What a lovely wedding for these two! Heather's dress is GORGEOUS! Love the layers of lace, it's perfect for an outdoor countryside wedding.

The DIY touches are great, like the cut wood for the ring bearer, the twine wrapped bottles, and burlap bunting. The thumbprint tree is beautiful, too!

My favorite is the portrait session on the train tracks! Great shots there.  Many thanks to Debbie Wong Photography for the beautiful submission!
