First of all, I am intrigued by such a post, as I ran my first 1/2 marathon earlier this year at the Phoenix Rock N' Roll Marathon. It was an accomplishment long saught after for quite some time. I'm currently in training for the upcoming 1/2 marathon in the same race in January 2015. I can't describe what the training and getting to the finish line feels like, more than it's an awesome feat. Now I am going for it a second time with a better finish, fingers crossed!
Now, let's get to the topic of this story...this year's Las Vegas Rock N' Roll 1/2 and Full Marathon, happening on Sunday, November 16, couples are able to wed, or renew their vows, in a brief 3 minute period, as they make their way to the finish line! What?! That is awesome and crazy, and I love it! Running couples rejoice! Combine both of your passions at one event, wed or renew, and complete your goal all in the same event!
Here's the scoop provided to me:
On November 16, 2014, the iconic Las Vegas Boulevard is transformed into a runner’s playground where more than 35,000 participants from around the world travel to Sin City to conquer a one of a kind race, which features a run-through wedding for lovebirds wanting to elope on the go!
This exciting race takes place at night and is fun, sexy, and romantic for newlyweds, couples wanting to renew their vows, or even as co-ed bachelor/bachelorette party idea. Runners can literally take a three minute break from their run to get hitched in front of the newly-renovated Monte Carlo plaza!
Here's how to participate: Couples can reserve a spot in the run thru wedding ceremony by emailing email@example.com. Other than race entry fee, there is no charge to participate in the Ceremony. It is only available for Half & Full Marathon participants. Wedding participants are grouped into the same corral so they reach the Monte Carlo (at Mile 3) at the same time for the ceremony.
So my dearest readers, will you be running at the Las Vegas Rock N' Roll 1/2 and Full Marathons, with your fiancé(e) or spouse? Why not go for this unique celebration? Let us know in the comments! And, good luck to all runners! Maybe I'll run aside you in January in Phoenix, and you can share your story with me!
