Last summer I became uhbbbsessed with essential oils and carrier oils like coconut oil. Every day I had, and still have, my essential oil diffuser running, emitting lovely scents into the air, whether for health benefits or just take make my home smell pretty. I also made a bevy of various scrubs and lotions using coconut oil that smell delicious and leave skin beautifully soft!
The kind people of Puritan's Pride sent me their coconut oil to try, and I love it! Today, I'm going to share with you my recipe for Lemon Sugar Scrub that is so simple, it uses the coconut oil, and your skin will thank you for this bit of pampering! Make this for yourself to pretty up your hands and feet before the big day, or whip up a big batch of this and put into cute tiny jars at your bridal shower as favors for your guests!
Before I share my recipe, though, I want to talk a bit about coconut oil. It is such an amazing "tool" to have on hand. I'm sure most know that coconut oil is awesome to cook with, and is very healthy to do so. But it's uses go beyond the kitchen. It can be used for cuticle care, to tame fly-aways, etc. I use it as eye makeup remover and when whipped it makes an excellent leg shaving cream!
But I love to use coconut oil most in body scrubs & lotions! Here is my Lemon Sugar Scrub recipe:
What you'll need:
2 Cups Granulated Sugar
1 Cup Coconut Oil (I used Puritan's Pride)
10-20 drops Lemon Essential Oil
Jar with hinge closing lid
Mix all ingredients up and put into a glass jar with hinge closing lid, and that's it!
Use scrub in the shower before you turn on the water. Simply scoop out a bit with a spoon, or your cupped hand, and gently rub the scrub all over body, or hands/feet, and then wash it off. The coconut oil makes your skin feel amazing, while the sugar sloughed off icky dead skin. The lemon essential oil smells amazing, and will uplift your spirits, while also cleansing your skin. Step out of shower and dry off, and you'll feel the amazing difference!
Do note to make sure you get all traces of sugar washed down the drain, and that there isn't an oil slick in your shower. There shouldn't be with this recipe, but want to mention that.
Let me know how you use coconut in the comments below. Enjoy!!
